Australijos Grand Prix

Istorija

Rekonstruotoje Melburno trasoje, Australijos Grand Prix lenktynės įvyko 1996 metais. Trasa driekiasi aplink nuostabu Albert Park ežerą. Pilotai mėgsta lenktyniauti greitoje, tačiau tolygiai einančioje trasoje. Melburno trasa pakeitė Adelaidės trasą, kuri yra iš dalies eina viešaisiais keliais.

Albert Park trasa pastatyta 1953 metais. Iki 1958 metų čia vyko bolidų Formula Libre neoficialus Australijos Grand Prix, kuris nebuvo įtrauktas į pasaulio čempionato etapų sąrašą. 1992 metais naujai išrinktas Victoria valstijos premjeras Jeff Kennett iškėlė užduotį kelti tarptautinį Melburno prestižą, ir vienas iš programos punktų buvo, perkelti Australijos Grand Prix iš Adelaidės į Melburną. Susitarimas pasirašytas 1993 m. rugsėjo mėnesį, tačiau pirmasis etapas įvyko tik 1996 metais, kai baigėsi Adelaidės sutartis. Nuo tada, Melburnas tradiciškai pradeda pasaulio Formula 1 čempionatą.

Norint priimti Australijos Grand Prix lenktynes, Albert Park reikėjo iš pagrindų renovuoti. Tai išprovokavo įnirtingus aplinkosaugininkų protestus, kurie teigė, kad statybos darbai padarys žalą parko kraštovaizdžiui, o bolidų išmetamos dujos pakenks miesto ekologijai. Ir visa tai nepaisant to, kad lenktynių trasa kaip Monake – laikinas statinys. Tačiau, nepaisant nenuilstančių “žaliųjų” protesto akcijų, kurios mažesniu mastu tęsiasi iki šiol, trasa vis dėlto sėkmingai debiutavo 1996 metų sezone, įgydama sirgalių ir pilotų simpatijas.
